From 1978 till 1990, Uwe Hickmann worked at VEB Transportgummi in Bad Blankenburg, where he acquired management functions from 1981 till 1990 in several field of production (Production of compounds, production of conveyor belts).
Between 1987 and 1990, he was assistant director of production and main dispatcher. From 1990 on, he led Ka-Ri-Fix's branch (subsidiary of Continental AG) in Bad Blankenburg.
